All city and county schools were cancelled due to storms that blew through around 5:00am that knocked out electricity in spots around town and also due to the fact that a large system was headed toward northern Alabama with a very high percentage of tornado activity. Since schools were cancelled Brady's daycare was cancelled so off to work she went with me. She had a blast playing with one of my co-workers children Beau and Savanah. We had Bama daycare in the middle of the weight room and balance discs that had been put up nice and neat were successfully in a heap on the floor.
During the Tornado: (no pictures had other things on my mind)
With the threat of storms all around us, BJ, Brady, Rachel and I were all home. We turned on the TV to James Spann (weather guy). There were two systems with circulations headed towards Tuscaloosa. One went North and one was headed straight for Tuscaloosa. At this point I started putting together our safe area, putting a bike helmet on Brady, grabbing a bag of diapers, snacks, milk and the safe with birth certificates and other important papers. Sitting in the bottom room watching the TV the enormous tornado was on screen and we were told it was headed toward McFarland. Fast as possible we were all behind the couch with blankets and pillows covering our heads. Then nothing . . . ALL electricity gone. We stayed that way for 15 minutes before we got our MP3 players and listened to the radio reports. Happy that we were alive, nothing damaged but guilty that we had been so blessed to still have everything. The text messages started coming in checking on us. We are safe and sound feeling very blessed that we were not directly affected by the storm. We have friends that lost houses and cars but they are all safe.**Thank you to everyone that thought of us during this time and checked on us. It really means a lot to us to know that we have such a great support.**
After tornado:
As Tuscaloosa was trying to recover and get it self ready to rebuild Brady figured out that cans are GREAT for stacking. My poor hardwood floors bc they are also great for getting shoved to the floor.
